Kukah made this statement on Sunday during a keynote address in Abuja, speaking at the commissioning of Start-Rite School’s new building and the 4th Amaka Ndoma-Egba Memorial Lecture.
He highlighted that many Nigerian leaders assumed office due to unexpected circumstances, not because of clear plans or preparation, according to Kukah, effective governance requires deep knowledge, which he said is often missing in the country.
The cleric pointed out that even with democracy, leadership in Nigeria faces huge challenges and expressed concern that the system is not delivering the expected results.
“If we are to start from the beginning, you will find that almost every leader who came to power in Nigeria did so as a result of one accident or another. President Tinubu, who said he was prepared for the role, is struggling. We are still trying to get off the ground.
