The President’s Wife Said Igbos Should Leave Lagos, Can She Be Mother Of The Southeast?”:According to Dan Ulasi

 

Dan Ulasi, a prominent figure in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has voiced his concerns on the challenges affecting the southeast region of Nigeria. He listed controversial remarks he believes have contributed to the growing instability in the southeast made by notable figures, including the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the Oba of Lagos, and others. “Do you know the level of spoken words said in this country?” he asked, emphasising the importance of words and their impact. Ulasi cited a previous statement from the First Lady in which it was purportedly proposed that Igbos should relocate out of Lagos. He conveyed his shock, stressing that these kinds of comments were extremely concerning especially in light of her present position.

“The president’s wife (Sen. Oluremi Tinubu) stated that Igbos should leave Lagos,” he quoted her as saying. Isn’t that the worst comment? When she was saying it, she didn’t know she would be First Lady of this country. Can she regard herself as Mother of the South East?”

“So why won’t our people be saying, let us go?” Ulasi asked, implying that such divisive remarks are partially to blame for the rising calls for secession from Nigeria. He continued by citing even harsher remarks allegedly made by the Oba of Lagos, who is said to have said that the Igbo people should “perish in the Lagoon.”
