Onyema Nwachukwu:”Our Conclusion Is That Colonel IB Karim Did Not Commit Any Offense Against Ruth”

The Nigerian Army has denied that Colonel IB Abdul Karim engaged in sexual harassment, according to a new Arise Tv documentary. This comes after an eight-month inquiry into the charges made by former Private Ruth, who worked at the Cantonment Medical Center in Ojo. After a thorough investigation that ended in September 2024, it was determined that the officer was not guilty of the charges made against him. This led to a public uproar and increased awareness of the problem of sexual misconduct in the armed forces.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

Speaking at a press conference, Army spokesperson Major General Onyenma Nwachukwu revealed that the investigation was thorough and based on an objective evaluation of all available evidence. “The investigation concluded that Colonel IB Abdul Karim did not commit the offense of sexual harassment as alleged by ex-Private Ruth. The findings were definitive and based on an objective evaluation of the available information,” Nwachukwu said.

The allegations first surfaced in January 2024 when ex-Private Ruth took to social media, accusing Colonel Karim of making unwanted sexual advances towards her, leading to her stigmatization within the ranks. Ruth further claimed that her refusal to comply resulted in threats to her life and professional mistreatment. The case drew significant attention due to ongoing concerns about sexual harassment and gender-based violence in the military.

Nwachukwu assured the public that the Army takes allegations of sexual harassment seriously but emphasized that the investigation’s outcome was based on factual evidence. Meanwhile, ex-Private Ruth has criticized the Army’s findings and continues to campaign for justice on social media, calling the discharge an injustice and questioning the investigation’s transparency.

According to him, “The investigation concluded that Colonel IB Abdul Karim did not commit the offense of sexual harassment as alleged by ex-Private Ruth Ogunleye. The findings were definitive and based on an objective evaluation of the available information.”CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
