Obaseki Is An Ingrate; Even Wike, Who stood As His Guarantor, Was Abandoned — According to Andrew Emwanta

In his discussion of the factors that led to the PDP’s defeat, former Edo State Commissioner for Communication and Orientation Andrew Emwanta emphasized that internal conflicts as well as outside influences played a role. He mentioned important places like Ovia, where two-term House of Representatives member Honorable Dennis Idahosa had backed the party in the past but later withdrew his support. He further highlighted that several individuals who were initially aligned with Obaseki abandoned him due to his failure to fulfill promises. He referred to Obaseki as an “ingrate” and mentioned that Governor Wike, who acted as a guarantor for Obaseki, became angry as he felt betrayed. Despite Obaseki’s frequent gestures of loyalty, such as kneeling before Wike, these actions did not suffice to maintain his support.

He said in an interview with TVC, “You know, for you to be able to appreciate why the PDP lost, it was not just about forces. Yes, it was about forces, because in a place like Ovia, for instance, where we had Honorable Dennis Idahosa, who represented that constituency in the House of Reps for two terms, I was the one who stepped down for Obaseki in 2020.

There were three of them before the election, and none of them were with him because he is an ingrate. They made promises to these individuals and did not fulfill them.
