In a live coverage by Symfoni TV, Okocha said despite Governor Sim Fubara’s position that the election will proceed, it won’t happen due to a court order barring the election. He said even if Governor Fubara goes ahead with the LGA elections, the results would be meaningless because the court has already ruled against it.
Okocha said some aspirants are selling their properties and borrowing money to fund their campaigns. He said this is risky since the situation in Rivers State is not favorable for the election to take place. He emphasized that until the legal issues are resolved, there is no suitable environment for the election, and aspirants could end up losing everything.
