If anybody would buy a bag of rice at #95,000 and vote for APC, they lie- According to Emmanuel Odigie
There have been strong reactions to the recently held Edo State election; Emmanuel Odigie is not only dissatisfied but also furious. Odigie mocked the idea that Edo people would voluntarily vote for the APC when the economy is as bad as it is right now, praising the same emotion in his critique. Odigie also spoke on the standard of living of citizens especially in the areas of education and pension which he said, many of public servants, teachers and pensioners who have had cause to receive their salaries under Governor Obaseki and receive it as and when due of are not likely to vote for a party that does not seem to care about their welfare. He described the election as an act of betrayal, polity ailment, “rape” of democracy and also outlined his worries about change in Nigeria if elections will continue to be conducted in the said manner. This election has made many wonder how real change can be brought about when the voting the process is not an indication of their feelings, according to Odigie.

He said in an interview with arise tv, “I am not in politics for my personal interest. I’m not in politics for my personal gains. I’m in politics to support the best of the best, to see how we can take Edo and Nigeria to become a first world economy. If anybody tells you that any Edo man would travel on the impassable federal road to Edo North and cast their vote for the APC, they lie. If anybody in Edo would queue to buy food at 1,200 Naira, to buy a loaf of bread at 2,000 instead of 400 and vote for APC, they lie.

If anybody would buy a bag of rice at 95,000, a bag of beans for 230,000, a crate of eggs for 8,000 Naira and vote for APC, they lie. If anybody tells you the teachers that Obaseki just increased their salaries with 80% increment would go to the ballot and vote for APC, they lie. If they tell you a pensioner that receives his pension at 25th of every month without delay, they lie.

If they tell you any civil servant, those that work in the local government that is receiving 70,000 minimum wage would go out there and cast their vote for APC, they lie. This is a blatant rape. This is a murder. If we cannot achieve change through the polls, how then can we achieve change in Nigeria? They said the judiciary is the last hope of the common man.”CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
