The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Monday Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, as the winner of the election. Okpebholo secured 291,667 votes, defeating the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Asue Ighodalo, who garnered 247,274 votes.

Reacting to the declaration, Obaseki hinted at the next steps his party, the PDP, intends to take.

He indicated that the party would pursue justice through legal and democratic means to address what he described as “blatant disregard of law and process” during the election.

“It is obvious to the least discerning, the amount of impunity and reckless disregard for processes and law that was displayed in this gubernatorial election,” Obaseki stated.

Obaseki recounted the rigorous political campaigns conducted by various parties in the months leading to the election, calling the electoral process “a travesty of democracy” for seizing the people’s power to choose their leaders.

However, he reassured citizens that there are democratic safeguards in place to address grievances and urged those affected to pursue resolution through lawful means.

While acknowledging the widespread disappointment among his supporters, Obaseki emphasized that violent reactions would only exacerbate the situation.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
