Nigeria’s Chief of Defense Staff, General Christopher Musa, has warned parents of military cadets to cease meddling in their children’s posting and career advancement in a recent video that aired on Channels Television. He went on to express concern over reports of parents attempting to influence where cadets and officers are posted, including which corps or battalion they are assigned to after graduation. “Parents are interfering with where cadets—where officers—are to be posted, even to which corps,” he stated.
General Musa revealed that such practices are “totally unacceptable,” as they undermine the integrity of the military system and the principles of fairness and merit. “I even understand that, while coming to the Academy, people want to also influence which battalion they go to, which service they go to,” he added, warning that such interference could compromise the efficiency and professionalism of the Armed Forces.
According to him, “There’s much expectation on you. You must understand that now it is not a tea party. Parents are interfering with where cadets—where officers—are to be posted, even to which corps.
