In the 2023 presidential election, Bola Tinubu of the APC was declared the winner. Atiku Abubakar of the PDP came second, and Peter Obi of the Labour Party finished third.
Datti encouraged the Labour Party members that what they achieved in the 2023 election could be repeated and even surpassed in future elections. He also said the current Labour Party caretaker committee is crucial to building on their past success, and he encouraged members to see themselves as key players in securing future victories for the party.
In Datti’s words: “I saw TInubu alighting from the new aircraft with all the paraphernalia of government, I said this is the man Peter Obi defeated.
