Edo Guber: Election Results Are Being Released by INEC

2,290 results, or 50.67% of the total results, from the 4,519 polling places in the Edo State governorship election have been posted to the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV), according to an announcement made by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Early voting data shows that different polling places had different voter turnout. For instance, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) received 80 votes in polling unit 010, Ward 04 of Owan West LGA, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) received 99 votes.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

In contrast, polling unit 05, Ward 03 of the same LGA, showed a closer contest with PDP at 61 votes and APC at 57.

According to Vanguard, INEC extended polling hours in areas where polling commenced late, ensuring that all voters in line by 2:30 p.m. could cast their ballots.

 

 

Security remains tight, with reports of arrests related to electoral misconduct, including suspected vote buyers apprehended by the EFCC.

Candidates Dr. Asue Ighodalo of the PDP, Senator Monday Okpebholo of the APC, and Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party are leading the race.

The election, critical for determining Governor Godwin Obaseki’s successor, has seen significant voter engagement despite some disruptions caused by technical issues with voting machines.
