Chiejina urged Nigerians to disregard the claims, stating that the official pricing will be announced by the Technical Sub-Committee on Naira-based crude sales to local refineries.

This committee was appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and is set to commence its operations on October 1, 2024. He emphasized that the current stock of crude was procured in dollars, suggesting that pricing in Naira has yet to be finalized.

“Our attention has been drawn to a statement attributed to NNPCL spokesperson, Mr. Olufemi Soneye, that we sell our PMS at N898 per litre to the NNPCL,” Chiejina stated. “This statement is both misleading and mischievous, deliberately aimed at undermining the milestone achievement recorded today, September 15, 2024, towards addressing energy insufficiency and insecurity, which has bedeviled the economy in the past 50 years.”

Chiejina further clarified that the products were sold to NNPCL in dollars, offering savings compared to current importation costs. He reassured Nigerians of the refinery’s commitment to ensuring the availability of quality petroleum products nationwide, aiming to eradicate fuel scarcity.

The controversy began when NNPCL spokesperson Olufemi Soneye claimed that PMS was loaded from the Dangote Refinery at N898 per liter, contradicting earlier reports suggesting a price of N760 per liter.

The refinery’s statement seeks to set the record straight ahead of the committee’s official pricing announcement in October.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
