Samuel Nwanosike: Governor Fubara Has Hurt The Ikwerre People Greatly By Sacking Sergeant Awuse

The removal of Chief Sergeant Awuse from his role as chairman of the State Supreme Council of Traditional Rulers by Governor Sim Fubara has outraged Samuel Nwanosike, the former chairman of Ikwerre Local Government. Nwanosike asserts that because Chief Awuse is one of the Ikwerre people’s most revered chiefs, this action has gravely disturbed the Ikwerre people.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

In a video released by TVC, Nwanosike explained that Chief Awuse, a first-class traditional ruler of Emohua Local Government Area, had been seriously ill and was undergoing medical treatment in London. According to him, Chief Awuse had kept Governor Fubara informed of his health condition and had even received the governor’s approval to travel abroad for treatment.

Nwanosike expressed frustration over the timing of Chief Awuse’s dismissal, as it occurred while the traditional ruler was still in a coma, recovering from his illness. He suggested that Governor Fubara’s decision to remove Awuse from his position lacked empathy, given the chief’s medical condition at the time.

The former local government chairman emphasized the emotional impact of this action on the Ikwerre people, who hold Chief Awuse in high regard. Awuse’s removal, Nwanosike believes, is a significant affront to the community, which sees him as one of their brightest and most influential figures.

Nwanosike also pointed out that Chief Awuse had followed due process by informing the governor of his health issues through letters, which raises further questions about why such a decision was made without apparent consideration for his situation. He argued that more sensitivity should have been shown toward Awuse, especially given the circumstances surrounding his illness.

In his comment, Nwanosike underlined the deep sense of hurt felt by the Ikwerre people, framing the governor’s actions as a slight against one of their most prominent leaders during a vulnerable time in his life.

According to him, “Governor Siminalayi Fubara has hurt the Ikwerre people greatly by the actions he took against one of the brightest the Ikwerre nationality has, that is Chief Sergeant Awuse. Awuse who is the first class traditional ruler in charge of the entire Emohua LGA was sacked by Governor Sim Fubara when he was in coma up there in London without even asking questions”.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
