According to Soccernet, Nigeria’s Super Eagles were left feeling let down by their goalless draw with Rwanda in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match on Tuesday. Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, a midfielder for Lazio who started in place of Alex Iwobi, expressed unhappiness with the result, blaming the draw primarily on the team’s inability to convert scoring opportunities.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

“We played well, but the problem is that we couldn’t convert our chances,” Dele-Bashiru said after the match. “We created a lot of chances to win the game, but we have to take the positive that we didn’t concede.”

Nigeria’s attack, which featured Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Moses Simon, and Victor Boniface, struggled to find the back of the net despite controlling much of the play. Dele-Bashiru himself fired wide from a good position in the second half.

While the result was not what Nigeria wanted, Dele-Bashiru noted that it still helps their AFCON qualification chances. “This result will definitely boost our chances of qualifying for the AFCON. It is not the result we wanted, but definitely not a bad one.”

The Super Eagles will face Libya in back-to-back fixtures during the October international break, with their qualification campaign still well on track.
