Victor Oye: Even if Peter Obi had gotten 100m votes in the last election, what will he do with it

Former All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) chairman Victor Oye has restated his earlier forecast for the 2023 Nigerian presidential election. Oye, who had prophesied the result of the election, claimed to have been right when he said that the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, his “brother,” would not win. Even though Obi received millions of votes, Oye stressed that his forecast came to pass precisely as he had predicted.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

In the 2023 race, Peter Obi garnered around six million votes, placing him third in the overall results. Although this figure demonstrated a significant level of support for the Labour Party’s candidate, Oye pointed out that these votes did not translate into electoral success. According to him, the large number of votes did not lead to a substantial impact, nor did they result in victory for Obi.

He questioned the ultimate significance of the millions of votes Obi received, asking what had been achieved with them. To him, the result exemplified the gap between garnering votes and securing a meaningful electoral outcome.

Despite the enthusiasm that accompanied Peter Obi’s campaign and the large number of supporters he amassed, Oye remains firm in his stance that the outcome was inevitable. He remarked that regardless of the votes Obi received, they failed to change the dynamics of the election. This, according to Oye, proves his earlier assessment correct.

He highlighted how even with a substantial backing, Obi was unable to translate that support into a victory or a transformative result. For Oye, this proves that the Labour Party’s efforts were ultimately unsuccessful. He used the example of Obi’s failed bid to demonstrate the limits of popular support in the absence of other crucial political factors.

According to him: “What I told you, did it not happen? I told you the outcome of that election or did I not tell you? I told you that my brother was going nowhere. Where are his 6 million votes now? I am asking you where are the votes? What did the votes achieve? Nothing. That is the truth of the matter. Even if he got 100 million votes, what did you do with it”.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
