IPOB attorney Ejiofor denounces suggestion to poison Igbo children

Ifeanyi Ejiofor, a human rights attorney and main counsel for Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the imprisoned leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has called the call for the poisoning of Igbo children everywhere they are found to be an insult to humanity and an incitement. In a TikTok post, a Nigerian living in Austria by the name of Kingsley asked the residents of Edo State, Benin, to poison Nigerian children of Igbo descent wherever they may be located.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

However, in response to the event, Ejiofor said in a statement released yesterday that the call and statement in question are revolting, heartless, and unsettling. No matter how strong one’s feelings may be for the Igbo, he said, there is no excuse for urging people to poison defenseless Igbo infants in Nigeria. “The statements made by ‘a man who identified himself as Kingsley,’ in a troubling TikTok audio, encouraging the Benin people of Edo State to poison Nigerian children of Igbo extraction, deeply appall and outrage me,” the user wrote in response to the viral post that is linked.

“The aforementioned Kingsley is a Nigerian man living in Austria whose last name is currently unknown. He demanded on August 29, 2024, that Igbo children be poisoned wherever they may be located. Not only is this disgusting and cruel phrase a clear call to violence, but it also offends the core humanity. “Violence against defenseless children cannot be justified by any grievance, regardless of how serious. This degree of intolerance and hatred is intolerable, and it needs to be strongly denounced.Even if we recognize that Amaka Patience Sunnberger’s most recent hate speech was a direct reaction to this, animosity only grows when hatred is met with more hate.
