Lieutenant Commander Gideon Gwaza, who died on Wednesday at the National Military Cemetery in Abuja while attempting to save 59 people aboard the dredge vessel MV AMBIKA 4, was given a national funeral by the Nigerian Navy. At the burial ceremony, Salome Gwaza, Lieutenant Commander Gwaza’s wife, delivered a heartfelt eulogy, expressing her pride in her husband’s heroic actions.
She remembered their nine years of marriage, filled with love, partnership, and inspiration.
Salome acknowledged the pain of his early departure but vowed to raise their children to make him proud.
She praised Lieutenant Commander Gwaza’s intelligence, selflessness, dedication, and bravery, saying, “You loved your job so well, and I’m glad you died as a hero. I will forever be proud of you. Your children will be proud of you. You were a true soldier who loved and cherished every moment spent together. I never thought you would leave this early.”
Speaking further, Salome promised to make her later husband proud. She said that she will continue to love him even in death.
While speaking at the event, the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, said that Gwaza’s wife will get accommodation in any of the Navy’s Post Housing Scheme, and added that the children of the late officer will be given scholarship up to the university level.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
