Army Response to Death of 16-year-old boy – The soldier involved has been arrested’

 

Tragically, 16-year-old Ismail Mohammed died in Zaria, Kaduna, while actively taking part in the current national demonstration against poor governance and economic hardship. The nation on Tuesday, August 6th witnessed a tragic incidence in it’s history as a 16-year-old boy tragically lost his life while participating in the ongoing nationwide protest against bad governance and economic hardship. In a twist of events, the Nigerian Army, who attempted to disperse hoodlums who hijacked the peaceful protest by firing shots into the air lost a shot as the bullet mistakenly hit the boy, according to a statement released by Major General Onyema Nwachukwu the Director General of Army Public Relations.

In the aftermath of the incidence, The Nigerian Army has detained the soldier who is responsible for the death of the 16-year-old boy, and this is according to a statement made by the Director, Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu and made available to the public by leading news outlet, VANGUARD today being Wednesday the 7th day of August, 2024. In his statements, Nwachukwu recalled the unfortunate incidence which led to the boy’s death, making it known that the said soldier has been arrested and undergoing interrogation.

‘In his words’

“On arrival at the scene, the hoodlums brazenly attempted attacking the troops, prompting a soldier to fire a warning shot to scare the hoodlums away, which unfortunately led to the death of a 16-year-old boy, Ismail Mohammed.

“The soldier involved has since been arrested and undergoing interrogation as of the time of this report,” he said.

The sad incidence has however drawn widespread criticism from the general public as they view the untimely death of the young boy as a loss too many amidst the ongoing nationwide protest against bad governance and economic hardship.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
