According to the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, President Bola Tinubu promoted 32,000 officers in a single day, clearing a substantial backlog in officer promotions that had been stagnant for six to twelve years. Additionally, he emphasized that the President quickly fixed the issue of the officers’ lack of rent and unique allowances, thus enhancing their standard of living. He compared the current problems to the darkest hour of the night, which is right before dawn, and asked Nigerians to be patient. He said in an interview with TVC, ”Mr President didn’t wait for protest for him to be able to come up with the student loan. He didn’t wait for protest to remove taxes and levies for even the food items. For instance in the Ministry of Interior, we have achieved a lot of things. When we came on board, we met huge backlog of promotion of officers. Some people were stagnated for 12,10,8 to 6 years without promotion. But Tinubu promoted 32,000 officers in one day, he didn’t wait for protest to do that.

When he came on board, he met a scenario where by there was no peculiar allowance and there was no rent allowance for officers. And he paid for these rent allowances to make life easier for the workers. Mr President did not wait for protest to be able to invest massively in terms of road infrastructure. We are pleading with Nigerians to please be patient.
