According to FG, Rice Has Been Taken to Various Centres Across the Country, and It Is Being Sold for N40,000

 

The nationwide hunger protests that were slated to take place from August 1 to August 10, 2024, have been declared unnecessary by the federal government. Idris explained that the government is already addressing the concerns raised by aggrieved Nigerians and is working to ensure food availability. He mentioned that rice has been distributed to various centers across the country and is being sold for N40,000, marking a necessary first step, with further efforts underway.

He emphasized that significant investment is being made in the agricultural sector, which is expected to lead to a decrease in food prices.

He said, “Many of the issues that those planning the protest are putting forward are being addressed. The government is making efforts to make sure that food is made available. Rice has been taken to various centres across the country, and it is being sold for N40,000. This is just the beginning and necessary first step. Other efforts are underway.

“There is so much investment that is going into the agricultural sector and we believe that as we move forward, the price of food will come down.”

Idris noted that the president is confident the government is responding to the demands of the youth, highlighting the implementation of the student loan program to ensure no youth is deprived of education.
