The IGP, Kayode Egbetokun, briefed journalists in Abuja on Friday.

He asked all groups planning to participate in the demonstrations to submit their details to the Commissioners of Police in their respective states.

“We confirm their fears are genuine, as we have credible intelligence on foreign mercenaries’ involvement in this planned protest,” Egbetokun said.

Reacting to the statement, Hon Dachung Musa Bagos expressed his concerns.

Bagos questioned the timing and credibility of the intelligence.

He pointed out that the authorities have not been able to identify the mercenaries responsible for ongoing violence in various regions.

However, they suddenly claim to have information on mercenaries planning to hijack the protest.

Bagos underlined the need for transparency and accountability from the police.

He suggested that the public deserves to know the truth about the threats facing the nation.

The lawmaker urged the authorities to focus on protecting the citizens rather than stopping their right to protest.

“Where are the mercenaries that have been killing our people for many years? But because of protest, they have been able to identify mercenaries,” he said.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
