Dangote’s Disclosure of $100 Million Payment to Lagos Govt for Refinery Land, Bayo Onanuga Reacts

Following the revelation of the sum of money used by Nigerian industrialist Alhaji Aliko Dangote to purchase the property on which the refinery in Lagos state was constructed, Bayo Onanuga, President Bola Tinubu’s Special Advisor on Information and Strategy, took action. Dangote, a business mogul, had clarified that he did not receive any form of incentive from either the Federal Government or the Lagos state government.

Onanuga’s statement, “Dangote refinery must not fail,” underscores the high stakes involved in the project’s success.

The refinery, which has been touted as a game-changer for Nigeria’s economy, is seen as a vital component of the country’s development strategy.

Dangote said; “In the refinery, we did not, and I repeat, we did not collect one single incentive from the Federal Government of Nigeria or even Lagos State. Yes, the Lagos State gave us a good deal but we paid $100m for the land. It wasn’t free land; we paid for it”.

However, Bayo Onanuga has now reacted after seeing the video. In the post that he shared on his page, he said Dangote refinery must not fail.
