Dr. Alaye Theophilus, the President of the Ijaw Youth Council WorldWide, has urged Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, to behave as a devoted son of Rivers State by limiting the powers of his 27 lawmakers and giving the governor the essential independence to bring development and democratic benefits to the people.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

He implored the FCT Minister to demonstrate patriotism, warning that destabilizing Rivers State would ultimately harm him as well. He stressed that Rivers State’s progress should take precedence over individual interests. He questioned whether Wike’s insistence on maintaining his political structure indicated a hidden presidential ambition. He further suggested that if there are external actors trying to incite instability in Rivers State, Wike should be the first to intervene and prevent such actions.

He said in an interview with Arise TV, ”We are saying that Mr President should intervene and tell his appointee, the FCT minister to retrace his step. He should act as a patriotic Rivers son and call his 27 lawmakers to order. And then give the governor that space and chance to give the people of Rivers State the needed development and dividends of democracy. I don’t even know if he wants to contest for President that he really want his structure to be kept intact. If there are people that are non-Rivers state people that want to put the State into crisis, Wike should be the first person to step in and stop those people.”CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
