When she visited the children, Mrs. Tinubu offered her sympathies and said that President Bola Tinubu had approved her visit, and it was an expression of her love and support for the family.
She said, “We are one family. Regardless of politics, Mr. President will always look out for you. Mama lived a good life. I know it hurts, but we thank God for the life she lived.”
A video that went viral online during the visit captured Remi Tinubu saying in Yoruba, “E GBA OWO,” which means let us shake hands appropriately, in response to Bukola Saraki asking whether she wanted to shake hands.
Amidst this, Banks Omishore, governor Adeleke’s aide, responded to the situation.
He remembered that Sen. Remi Tinubu declined to shake hands with Bukola Saraki in 2015 when he was elected Senate President. For this reason, Saraki joked, asking if Remi Tinubu would shake hands.
Banks Omishore said that there are no permanent opponents in politics, just as there are no permanent interests. He stated that although things change, the needs of the people should always come first.
After investigating what Banks Omishore had claimed, it was discovered to be accurate because Daily Post had already published it at the time.
Banks Omishore’s wrote, “In 2015, when Bukola Saraki became Senate President, Senator Remi Tinubu refused to shake his hands during the presentation of the certificate of office. Hence the joke here with SP saying, Are you sure you want to shake hands?”
