PDP Rejects Appeals in the Rivers State Assembly Crisis

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has distanced itself from an alleged appeal pertaining to Suit No. PHC/2177/CS/2024 that was filed before the Court of Appeal, Port Harcourt Division. In a statement issued by the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the party clarified that it did not initiate nor authorize the appeal.

According to Vanguard, Ologunagba affirmed that only the National Legal Adviser of the PDP, Barr. Kamaldeen Ajibade SAN, is constitutionally mandated to handle litigation and legal matters on behalf of the party and its organs.

The statement emphasized that the PDP had previously notified the public that no entity other than the National Legal Adviser has the authority to engage external solicitors or handle legal cases on behalf of the party.

Ologunagba reiterated that the party adheres strictly to the provisions of its constitution, as amended in 2017, regarding legal representation and proceedings.

Furthermore, the PDP urged the public to disregard any claims suggesting the party’s involvement in the appeal process related to the Rivers State Assembly crisis.

The statement concluded by reaffirming the PDP’s commitment to due process and legal compliance in all its activities.

As of now, there has been no response from the Court of Appeal or other parties involved in the suit regarding the PDP’s disclaimer.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
