Until Governor Submits 2024 Budget Rivers State Assembly Freezes Funds

As reported by CHANNELS TELEVISION, this action follows the lapse of a seven-day ultimatum given to the governor to submit his budget.

The ultimatum, initiated by the Assembly, was intended to encourage prompt financial planning and accountability within the state’s governance.

The motion to suspend expenditures was brought forth by the Leader of the House, Major Jack, who notified the House about the expiration of the ultimatum.

After discussions, the House voted to close the Rivers State Consolidated Revenue Account, thus preventing Governor Fubara’s administration from accessing state funds until the budget is submitted.

Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s administration is now under increased pressure to present the budget and resume the state’s financial operations.
