Speaking in an interview on TVC Politics Tonight, he said that President Tinubu urged Governor Fubara to present the state budget to the 27 Assembly members and engage them with political acumen.

Nwanosike highlighted that the President stressed the importance of political manoeuvring to ensure that the National Assembly passes a legitimate budget.

He said that during the meeting, President Tinubu shared his own experiences, emphasising the necessity of navigating the complexities of budget approval processes in the National Assembly.

He indicated that even as president, he has to engage with lawmakers to ensure the passage of the national budget.

This, Tinubu suggested, is a vital aspect of political leadership and governance.

However, Nwanosike expressed concerns over Governor Fubara’s dismissive attitude towards this advice.

Contrary to Tinubu’s advice, Governor Fubara reportedly insisted that his financial support for the Assembly members’ school fees and other expenses should suffice to prevent any opposition to his budget plans.

Nwanosike described this stance as problematic, pointing out that it undermines the principles of democracy and good governance.

Nwanosike called for greater respect for democratic processes in Nigeria, urging Governor Fubara to adopt a more inclusive and respectful approach towards the Assembly members.

He stressed that engaging the lawmakers in meaningful dialogue and negotiation is essential for the smooth functioning of the state’s legislative processes.

Furthermore, Nwanosike suggested that Governor Fubara’s actions should be scrutinised by the National Judicial Council (NJC).

He argued that the governor’s approach not only disrespects the democratic institution but also sets a dangerous precedent for future interactions between the executive and legislative branches in the state.

Nwanosike said, “When Mr. President met with us, Mr. President advised him (Fubara) to take the budget to the 27 members and play the game as a politician.

“He said even he, as President, takes his budget to the National Assembly, and he goes through the rigours of making sure a legitimate budget is passed.

“But the governor is saying that he’s only working on the 2025 budget and that he was the one paying the school fees and feeding the Assembly members, so they cannot question him.”CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
