According to the report by Daily Post on Sunday, the assurance was given to the member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia constituency in the National Assembly, Obi Aguocha, during a visit to Buhari’s home in Daura, Katsina State.

Aguocha, who sought the former President’s intervention and support for a political resolution to Kanu’s continued detention and trial, apologized for any missteps and utterances of his constituent, Nnamdi Kanu.

He also stressed the need to promote understanding and unity.

Speaking about his visit to the former President, Aguocha said that Buhari welcomed his approach and assured him that he would not oppose a political solution for Kanu’s release.

He said that his meeting with the former President is part of a broader initiative to secure a speedy political resolution and Kanu’s subsequent release, in the spirit of dialogue and non-contentious approaches to resolving national issues.

Aguocha expressed confidence that with Buhari’s assurance and the letter of appeal he led 50 House of Representatives members to write to President Bola Tinubu about Kanu’s conditions, the IPOB leader would soon be released through political resolution.

He said, “Former President Buhari welcomed my approach and assured me that he would not oppose a political solution for Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s release.

“This meeting is part of a broader initiative to secure a speedy political solution and Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s subsequent release, in the spirit of dialogue and non-contentious approaches to resolving national issues.”

Nnamdi Kanu was arrested in Kenya and repatriated to Nigeria by Buhari’s administration. He was arraigned in court on charges that bordered on terrorism and treason.

The court had granted him bail, but the federal government is yet to obey the court order.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
