Sani expressed concern over the alleged plot by Northern leaders to unseat Tinubu, using former President Muhammadu Buhari as a rallying point.
He noted that this move could create serious problems for the country, given Nigeria’s fragile state.
Sani emphasized the importance of prioritizing national unity over personal ambition, citing the lack of Southern challenges to Buhari’s government during his eight-year tenure.
He urged Northern leaders to sacrifice their ambitions for the sake of national unity and wait for the second term of the current administration to make their bid for power.
Speaking during the interview with Arise News, he said he believes that the North will then have the moral right to request power.
He emphasized that the desperation for power will not benefit the region or the country, and urged leaders to prioritize peace and unity.
He said, “Buhari has been in power for eight years and there has never been any serious Southerner that challenged his own government in terms of trying to remove him out of office.
“And secondly, we should know that before you think of power, we should think of the whole country. We should be thinking of a united country, a peaceful country. Nigeria is still a fragile country.
