Suspect Confesses to Ritual Killing of Prostitute "I held her legs before Ifa slaughtered her"

In a terrifying confession, Raman Akande, a suspect in the death of a commercial sex worker in the Ifo region of Ogun State, reportedly described to PUNCH on Thursday, June 27, 2024, how he and two other people killed the woman for ritualistic purposes. Akande was detained in connection with the incident.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

The confession video, made at the police station and obtained by PUNCH Metro from a source who pleaded anonymity, provides a detailed account of the horrific incident.

Akande disclosed that he participated in the killing after being promised a reward of N100,000 by a person identified as Ifa.

According to Akande, the arrangement with Ifa was straightforward: in exchange for participating in the ritual killing, he would receive the promised sum. To fulfill his part of the plan, Akande engaged the services of the victim, offering to pay her N3,000 for spending the night with him, which she agreed to.

In his confession, Akande narrated in Yoruba, later translated to English, that after the victim had agreed and accompanied him to his home, he enlisted the help of a friend identified as Ijebu to carry out the murder.

Akande described the sequence of events that followed, stating, “It was Ijebu who hit her with a wood on the head, and she collapsed. After she collapsed, I dragged her inside. I was the one who held her legs while Ijebu held her hands before Ifa slaughtered her.”

He further explained that after the victim was slaughtered, Ifa used a calabash to collect her blood, a common practice in some ritualistic killings.

Akande rationalized his participation by citing the financial reward promised by Ifa.

“I agreed to participate in the process because Ifa promised to pay me N100,000,” he said.

Akande also clarified his relationship with the victim, stating that she was not his girlfriend but a commercial sex worker whose services he had engaged in the past.

“The lady is not my girlfriend but a commercial sex worker that I have always engaged her services in the past. I usually paid her N1,000 before, but I promised to pay her N3,000 when I went to pick her up.”

Efforts to obtain a reaction from the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, were unsuccessful as she had yet to respond to messages and calls as of the time of filing this report.

However, a senior police officer privy to the incident confirmed the arrest in a telephone conversation on Wednesday, though the officer was not authorized to speak with the media.

The senior officer disclosed that Akande had been arrested in Ifo and subsequently transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further investigation.

“He was arrested in Ifo, and he has been transferred to the state CID for further action,” the officer said.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
