He stated that their longstanding influence on the political machinery of the state underscores their capacity to shape governance outcomes over decades. He noted that one faction of this same group has allied with the former governor, while the other has aligned with the current governor, illustrating the personal nature of the conflict rather than a systemic issue.
He said in an interview with Arise TV, ”One set of people that felt they own the political class of Rivers state are causing this crisis. The same set of people that produced the 1999 governor is the same set of people that produced the 2003 governor up to date.
For whatever that is their problem, they decided to split themselves into two factions and have chosen to hold Rivers state to ransom. And which we are not going to accept that. There is no local government crisis in Rivers State, it is the same people who divided themselves into two.
