Abure, the incumbent National Chairman, and Apapa, the Deputy National Chairman (South), had both claimed leadership of the party, resulting in a protracted crisis.
However, following a series of events, including a contentious national convention and pressure from the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Abure’s faction has agreed to reconcile with Apapa’s group.
A source at the LP national secretariat revealed that Abure’s decision to reconcile was prompted by the open revolt from the party’s Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi, and the NLC’s pressure for a fresh convention.
The Apapa camp confirmed the development, with spokesman Abayomi Arabambi saying that they had no issues with Abure from the outset, blaming his actions on influence from some NLC officers.
Arabambi also announced the dissolution of the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign, with members reverting to their former roles.
Arabambi said, “We are together to stop all those political hawkers from taking over our party. We thought they (NLC) were fighting for a just cause. But it is very obvious they only want to take over our party and we are not going to accept that. We in the Lamidi Apapa group are not lawbreakers like those who supported Abure in disobeying the court order. I have said this several times.”
Speaking further, he said, “I also want you to know that there is nothing like Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign here anymore. It has been dissolved. Everybody has reverted to former governorship and presidential candidate. We don’t want disinformation at the Labour Party.”CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
