In a video shared by Arise TV, Professor Wokocha explained that the Constitution allows the House of Assembly to continue its work even if there are vacancies. He illustrated this by saying that if there were a plane crash that caused the death of 27 members, or if 27 members were too ill to attend, the House would still need to function. He said the remaining members would continue their activities and take necessary actions to ensure the constituencies refill the vacant seats. In Professor Wokocha’s words: “If there was a plane crash and we lost 27 House of Assembly (HoA) members, the House will not shut down. If for some strange illness 27 members of the House of Assembly lost capacity to sit or get off from their beds, we will not shut down the House.
