Dele Alake:”From inside detention in Alagbon Close, Tinubu was financing the operation of NADECO”

The 1990s resistance against General Sani Abacha’s military regime has been discussed by Solid Minerals Minister Dele Alake. Alake described Tinubu’s involvement with the National Democratic Coalition, or NADECO, a pro-democracy movement in a video that TVC posted. He added that because Tinubu disapproved of the Abacha regime’s autocratic governance, he was imprisoned. Alake also shared how the newspaper company he used to work for (Concord) was shut down twice within a year. He said the first time it was shut down was when he was preparing to publish a story against Abacha’s administration

In Alake’s words: “From inside detention in Alagbon Close, Tinubu was financing and directing the operations of the struggle (NADECO). Again for the second time in a year, our paper was shut down. I recall the first time they came to shut us down, I was going to publish an exclusive story which was damaging to the Abacha government.
