According to The Nation news, the Court of Appeal had ordered the parties to maintain status quo in a suit brought by Martin Amaufule and 24 others against Victor Oko-Jumbo and five others. Amaufule and others are seeking the overturning of the Supreme Court order that confirmed Oko-Jumbo as Speaker.
Justice Charles Wali ordered Amaufule and others to stop posing as Speakers and Members of the House and ruled that all laws enacted by them, including those affecting the House of Assembly, are void until the case is resolved. Oko Jumbo and others claim that Amauful and others lost their seats because of the defection of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Court of Appeal adjourned the hearing until today and warned the parties not to take any steps that may prejudice the facts of the case.
