Chidi Lylod, the chairman of Emohua Local Government Area, has openly responded to Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s recent order for administrative heads to assume control of the Local Government Areas (LGAs) throughout the state, in light of the ongoing political drama in Rivers State. Governor Fubara’s order was issued earlier today, instructing administrative heads to assume control of the LGA offices following the end of the chairmen’s terms. This move was met with resistance and sparked a series of confrontations. In the wake of this directive, some youths in Rivers State took matters into their own hands, forcibly removing former pro-Wike council chairmen and seizing control of the council headquarters.

In an interview with TVCNEWSNG, Chidi Lylod reacted to the directive and the unfolding crisis, noting that supporters of former Governor Nyesom Wike have shown remarkable restraint. “I feel sorry for Governor Siminalayi Fubara because if the state goes up in flames, he will be held responsible,” Lylod stated. “What happened in Rivers State today will not repeat itself.”

Despite the governor’s directive, Lylod declared that he and his colleagues cannot step down from their positions. “We cannot step down; we are creations of the law,” he asserted. “Nobody can put me out of office.
