Former Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council director general Mr. Doyin Okupe responded to a recent statement made by former President Muhammadu Buhari advising Nigerians to stifle the country’s population growth.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

While reacting, Mr Okupe made it known that former President Buhari’s caution on uncontrolled population growth is very apt in the face of severe economic decline, ravaging poverty and acute food shortage. He went on and made it known that in the the year 1970, the population of the United Kingdom was 55.9 million, while Nigeria was 55.6 million.

Speaking further, Mr Okupe noted that by 2022, the United Kingdom population rose to 67 million and Nigeria grew to about 220 million.

Mr Doyin Okupe made this disclosure in a post he made on his official X handle, while reacting the recent statement that was made by former President Buhari.

He wrote: “Buhari’s caution on uncontrolled population growth is very apt, in the face of severe economic decline, ravaging poverty and acute food shortage. In 1970 UK population was 55.9m while Nigeria was 55.6m. But by 2022 UK rose to 67m ( approx 20%)and Nigeria grew to about 220m ( approx 300%!!!)”

Recall that it was recently reported that former President Muhammadu Buhari, advised Nigerians to keep growing their own foods and control population growth.
