He emphasized that although President Buhari had initially opposed Bola Tinubu’s candidacy, the significance of this precedent was brought to light by the combined efforts of all parties involved, particularly the governors.
The religious leader argued that while there may not be an obligation to support Peter Obi’s presidency specifically, it is crucial to acknowledge the need for fair representation in the Southeast region to maintain political balance across Nigeria.
“Peter Obi is not ready to be Nigeria’s president. His plans to be president in 2027 are not intact. There is no certainty that he can be president in 2027,” Ayodele stated. He further suggested that if former Vice President Atiku Abubakar decides to run in 2027 on the PDP’s platform, the party will lose, advocating instead for a new presidential candidate to take the PDP to the next level.
