During Thursday’s court proceedings when EFCC’s counsel, Mr. Kemi Pinheiro, SAN, expressed the commission’s determination to bring Bello to justice according to Leadership.
In a statement, Pinheiro declared, “We may have to invite the military to move Yahaya Bello out of where he is hiding. We may have to engage the military to force him out because immunity does not cover him where he is hiding. No one is above the law. Immunity covers only the governor and not everyone around him.”
This bold assertion highlights the EFCC’s commitment to uphold the law and its readiness to take extraordinary measures to ensure compliance.
The controversy surrounding Bello’s arrest warrant has been compounded by conflicting court orders. While a Federal High Court in Abuja granted the EFCC permission to arrest the former governor, a Kogi State High Court issued a counter order restraining the EFCC from carrying out the arrest.
