According to Sowunmi 'We Have Someone Who Is Very Influential In Our Party And He's Playing A Big Role In APC'

The complexity of Wike’s dual allegiance, wherein he plays a major role in both the ruling party, the All Progressive Congress, and the PDP, has been highlighted by PDP Chieftain Segun Sowunmi. He claims that because of this extraordinary situation, people are no longer expected to totally connect with their party or outside affiliations.

He said in an interview with Channels TV, ”I know where this tendency is coming from, it’s coming from an unusual situation in the politics of our country. The issue is the Nyesom Wike challenge of the politics of Nigeria and the politics of PDP. But what’s that challenge? Typically when somebody is out of the party, they are fully out and when they are in the party, they are fully in.

For the first time in the history of our politics, we have someone who is very influential in our party and he’s playing a big role in APC. He’s saying this is their position for the future given the history of the past. And because the people are unable to deal with that situation, everybody is just hanging everything on one person and anything close to Wike.”

The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike having failed to secure the PDP Presidential ticket for 2023 election has been at loggerheads with the party affairs.
