Jummai Mutah, a Chibok schoolgirl who was rescued, described their experience being kidnapped by the terrorist organization Boko Haram. She did, however, add that some people and security personnel attempt to follow the armed gang. She said that the terrorists’ superior weaponry and numerical advantage prevented the pursuing forces from catching up.

She said in an interview with Channels TV, ”From Chibok to Sambisa, we spent like three days on the road with their car. We dropped our hair ties and shoes on the road because we thought soldiers would come and rescue us. And we later discovered that some people trailed us and some security agents followed as well. But because of the ammunition of the terrorists, they couldn’t catch up with us. The Boko Haram members had more numbers than them.”

On the night of 14-15, April 2014, 276 female students aged from 10 to 18 were kidnapped by the Islamic terrorist group, Boko Haram from the Government Girls Secondary School in the town of Chibok in Borno state, Nigeria.

Prior to the raid, the school had been closed for four weeks due to deteriorating security conditions but the girls were in attendance in order to take attendance to take final WAEC exam in Physics. About 276 Female Students were aducted, 57 of the school girls reportedly escaped immediately following the incident by jumping from the trucks on which they were being transported.
