Amina Ali, a girl who was rescued from Chibok School, has said that Abubakar Shekau, the late leader of Boko Haram, stated that the only kind of school they desired was an Islamic one, meaning that it would not have mixed male and female students. CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

She described how Shekau voiced their opposition to Nigerian formal education continuing. She clarified that Shekau’s objection is not to the educational system per se, but rather to the subjects taught there, like biology, which he feels negatively impacts kids’ conduct.

She said in an interview with Channels TV, ”After they kidnapped us they started teaching us the Quran and they asked us who is ready to convert to Islam. And that night, even Shekau came and he explained to us why they abducted us. He said they don’t want anything like school to continue in Nigeria.

Because school is not good and it’s a taboo. He said school is not just the taboo but what people are going in that school is the taboo. He said teaching students subjects like Biology will spoil the children’s behavior. He [Shekau] said the only school they want is Islamic school and that they don’t want combined school of boys and girls.”

Abubakar Shekau was a Kanuri terrorist who was the leader of Boko Haram, a Nigeria Islamist militant group from 2009 to 2021. He served as a deputy leader to the group’s founder, Mohammed Yusuf, until Yusuf’s execution in 2009. Shekau announced the abduction of 276 Nigerian school girls in a video in May 2014.

Fortunately for Nigeria in 2021, Shekau died while detonating explosives on himself after a battle between the ISWAP group and the Boko Haram. The ISWAP fighters had hunted him down and offered him the chance to join them but Shekau refused and blew himself up. CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
