Victim Reveals "Sometimes In School, They Look Down On Us Because We Are Chibok Girls And That Really Hurt Me

Amina Ali, a Chibok schoolgirl who was rescued, is a student at Federal University of Yola. She has talked about the emotional anguish she had as a result of being teased at school for being a Chibok girl. She recalled her travel from Chibok to Yola and talked about her efforts to support her family financially in her capacity as the family’s main provider. She said in an interview with Arise TV, ”Sometimes in school, they look down on us because we are Chibok girls and that really hurt me. And then I really need a lot of support for my child because with the way things are becoming expensive in Nigeria, it’s not easy for me to take care of my child and my mom too.

Speaking on how she became the breadwinner of the family, she said, ”Since I left Chibok town to where I’m now in Yola. I usually farm to get money to take care of my mom and my dad. During holidays I also go out to do some house help jobs in people’s houses. I wash their dishes so that I can get money. When some people hear about my story, they also help me with the little they have.”

Amina Ali Nkeki is a Nigerian Former hostage of Boko Haram. She was one of the 276 female students that the terrorist groups kidnapped from Chibok in 2014. After 57 of the girls escaped in the first few months, the remaining 219 were held for several years. Amina was one of the first freed girls.

She was found on the 17th of May 2016 by a joint task force along with a four-month-old child and an alleged Boko Haram member, Mohammed Hayatu, who described himself as her husband. CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
