She said there was still a strike going on because of worries about rebels from Boko Haram. But, the institution did not provide any security measures when the SS3 kids were asked back to take their NECO and WAEC exams, just two weeks later. She stated that the girls were left on their own and that neither a teacher nor a matron remained at the school.

She said in an interview with Channels TV, ”They [Boko Haram] didn’t enter the school directly, they just passed our school and entered the town. But when they entered the town they didn’t find anybody, even the soldiers had gone to hide. So since they didn’t find anybody in the town, they came back to the school and started arguing that there was no student there.

As at that time, there was a strike because of the issue of Boko Haram. But just two weeks later, we got a call that SS3 student should come to school to write their NECO and WAEC. There was nobody in the school with us, were left in the school alone by ourselves.”

There was a report that the Boko Haram Insurgents did not set out to abduct school girls from the Chibok school in April 2014, their robbery mission accidentally became an abduction operation. According to one of the rescued Chibok Girls, one of the Boko Haram boys had suggested burning down the school with the Chibok girls but another leader of the group insisted that they should take the girls to their late leader, Abubakar Shekau in the Sambisa Forest.
