Senator Shehu Sani, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and a former congressman from Kaduna who served as the National Assembly’s representative for Kaduna Central, claimed that there hasn’t been any light in his Maitama neighborhood since the morning. His statement is coming after the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, approved an increase of electricity tariff. According to VANGUARD, NERC approved an increase of electricity tariff to N225 from N68. The report further stated that the 300 percent hike took effect from April 1, 2024.
However, since the report surfaced online, there have been some reactions from many Nigerians.
In a post that Senator Shehu Sani made on his page, he said his area in Abuja is “Band A” but they haven’t had light since morning. He proceeded to ask if there is A1 or A2.
