Frank Tietie made this statement during an interview with a journalist on Arise Television. During the interview, Frank Tietie said, “I had to run away because when I left the law school, I saw dead bodies littering my own street. The reason was because there was this idea of Bakasi boys carrying out extra-judicial killings.”

“Extra-judicial killings by Bakasi boys was imported from Onitsha to Ughelli. There was this gradual shift from a traditional town that was synonymous with peace to a lot of violence and settling of political issues with assassinations and all of that.
