If Senator Ningi had the courage to raise that alarm, the best the senate leadership would have done was to investigate and institute a public probe - According to Chief Udenwa

According to Chief Achike Udenwa, a former Imo State governor and minister of commerce and industry, if Senator Ningi had the guts to sound the alarm, the Senate leadership would have done no more than look into the matter rather than suspend him, according to an article published in The Sun. He stated it would have been preferable if Ningi could have been suspended if it had been found after an investigation that he had lied. Remember that Ningi said that there were no particular project allocations totaling N3.7 trillion in the N28.7 trillion budget for 2024.

Chief Achike Udenwa said, “If Senator Ningi had the courage to raise that alarm, the best the senate leadership would have done was to investigate and institute a public probe to get to the root of it. Is it true? We are talking of a budget padding of about N3 trillion in an economy that is dwindling, and the best you could do was to suspend the whistleblower without looking at what he has said. Are you sweeping such a serious allegation under the rug?”

He continued, “What any responsible leadership could do is investigate it, make sure that such a thing doesn’t happen, and, secondly, clear the image of the National Assembly. That is the reaction I expected to see from the Senate leadership, but not to suspend Senator Ningi.
