'I Have Friends In The United States Who Called Me After The Kuriga Abduction Incident' -According to Usman Yusuf

Professor Usman Yusuf, a former CEO of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), has described how, after the Kuriga event, friends from the United States got in touch with him. He claimed that his buddies were shocked by the situation of the elementary school where the kidnapped children were placed and by the general decline of the neighborhood. He criticized the tendency to shift blame elsewhere rather than accepting responsibility. They called upon the leaders of the North and government officials to confront the reality of their failure in serving the people. Emphasizing the need for improvement, he urged collective action to address pressing issues, particularly the ongoing threats posed by Boko Haram and banditry.

It’s more than a week after some unknown Bandits captured 287 students in Lea Primary and JSS school in Kuriga town. The students who were reportedly abducted on a Thursday morning during the school assembly are yet to be rescued. However, the Governor of Kaduna state, Uba Sani has promised to secure the release of the pupils back and safely to the town.

He said in an interview with Arise TV, ”I have friends in the United States who called me after the Kuriga abduction incident. They asked me, did you see the primary school where these kids were taken? They have blown roofs and nothing there is good anymore. Well, this is the leadership of the North. And it fuels all of this.

And we are looking elsewhere, we are blaming somebody else. The Leaders of the North and those in government, it’s time to look ourselves in the face and say we have failed our people.
