For subscribers who have been looking for alternatives to the current pay TV providers, the launch of SLTV is a welcome relief. George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), underlined that this action is in line with Nigerians’ aspirations to take advantage of the numerous investment opportunities present in the country’s economy.

Addressing the audience, SGF Akume commended Metrodigital Limited, the owners of SLTV, for their patriotic initiative in setting up the satellite television. He stated, “We are charting the right course toward collective recovery and prosperity. Nigeria is our country, the only one we can truly call our own, and it is our responsibility to fix it.”

SGF Akume’s Special Adviser (Technical), Prof Babatunde Bernard, echoed the sentiment, emphasizing that Nigerians have long yearned for alternatives to existing Satellite Pay TV services. SLTV, according to Prof. Bernard, has responded resoundingly by committing to deliver real value to fellow compatriots in terms of service quality and affordability.

Dr. Ifeanyi Okafor, Managing Director of Metrodigital Limited, expressed regret over the growth limitations faced by pay TV in Nigeria due to policies and legal frameworks that perpetuate monopoly. However, he asserted that Metrodigital dared to break the mold because the government was taking positive steps to address this issue.

The Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC) Director General, Charl, emphasized that the Federal Government remains fully supportive of SLTV’s legitimate business endeavors in the broadcast industry. He praised the government’s commitment to promoting free competition and responsible broadcasting services, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s determination to revitalize the Nigerian economy.
