Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuedu, the Chairman of Coronation Capital, attempted to lighten the mood of the audience on Wednesday night during the Night of Tributes in honor of the late Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings Plc, Herbert Wigwe, by referring to Wigwe’s daughter, Tochi, as the most eligible woman in the world. Aig-Imoukhuedu reflected on what transpired after Wigwe passed away. He stated that the day after Wigwe passed away, he visited his children Tochi, David, Hannah, and Okachi before going to Wigwe’s family house. Everyone was attempting to connect with Tochi, he claimed, and it was a highly emotional situation.
He said when that was happening, he sent Tochi a message asking about her whereabouts. He said that even though the message had a demanding tone, Tochi did not respond. He said that he thought of what he could do next, then decided to send her another text, adding a special name that her late father used to call her. He said that when Tochi saw that, she called him a few minutes after that.
He joked that he would not mention what that special name is so that people would not use it to send her messages.
He said, “When I came back the day after the accident, I flew straight back, and I saw Tochi, I saw David, I saw Hannah and Okachi. And then I went to the Wigwe family home. It was very emotional, very draining… People wanted to connect so much with Tochi. Everyone wanted to touch and draw and talk to Tochi at the time. And in the heat of the moment, I sent Tochi a message. I said, Tochi, where are you? And she could tell from my message that there was urgency and there was a demand in it. And my Tochi didn’t respond.
“And then I stepped back, and I said I know what I would do. Then I sent her another message, and in it, I called her something her father calls her, and then I said, Tochi please call me. Five minutes later, Tochi calls. I’m not going to mention it because Tochi is the most eligible woman in the world right now. And I know you all want to hear what to say when you send her the message.”
Aig-Imoukhuedu said that Wigwe told him that one of his proudest moments was when Tochi told him that she had gotten admission for her Master’s Degree at the Imperial College in London.
He described the late Wigwe as one of the Generals that Nigeria and indeed the whole of Africa had.
Wigwe died in the United States alongside his wife and son after the helicopter that they were flying in crashed. The US authorities said that the accident was caused by weather conditions. CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
