Vatsa underlined the significance of preserving the current rotating presidential model until each region has had an equal chance to gain from it in an article published by The Sun. He made it clear that before the end of the power rotation could be contemplated, President Tinubu of the Southwest should serve out his entire eight-year tenure and be succeeded as president by an Igbo man.

In Vatsa’s words: “Tinubu must do his 8-year term and the Igbo man must test the presidency before we can temper with that political arrangements. Then we will now agree to whether there should be rotation or not. Lack of equity, justice, and fairness remained the major challenges facing this country as a nation. Let us look at this critically, look at the Presidents from the military to civilians that have ruled Nigeria from the Northern extraction, has it translated to anything?”.
